Network Cabling Standards
Most local area networks use the category
5 standard as specified by IEEE. Category 6
or Cat6 is now the preferred standard. Cat 5
has a maximum speed of 100 Megabits per
second. Cat 6 has a maximum of 1000
megabit per second which will be required
shortly as video and voice proliferate on our
networks. Don't install old technology and
use IEEE.org to research cabling standards. |
