Communication
POS links to Back Office (Uniplus) through standard Ethernet (NE2000) or Serial (RS232) cable or modems. No additional LAN Software (eg. Novell) are required, except when two or more Back Office machines are required.
No dedicated server is necessary, as each POS is an intelligent machine, and can accumulate sales for as long as the back office machine is down or not in use. When communication is resumed, the POS machines will send all accumulated transactions to the back office.
When the Back Office is in real-time communication mode, all debtor & Stock transactions will be updated at all times at all POS units. This means that Stock quantities and debtor balances will be current and can be displayed at any POS.
Any POS can be monitored form the back office at ANY time, even while it is busy with sales. Information which can be monitored from the back office includes: all financial totals for that POS as well as the current sell screen as it progresses.
Options and flags can also be set up remotely. A Financial summary for all connected POS units can also be displayed on the back office at any time.
A Touch Screen version of Protill is also available.
